The foul pole--defined as a vertical demarcation that marks fair territory from foul--is a home for discussions of baseball, politics, and whatever else is interesting. Of course, in baseball, the foul pole is actually fair territory. My hope is that this blog lives up to the relatively low standard of the foul pole’s nomenclature.

The Big Dig in Pictures
The New York Times has a story-in-pictures on the completed Big Dig project in Boston. Like many other millions of people, I lived in Boston during a few years of the two decade long renovation process. The end results are worth a look.
Brad is a diehard Red Sox fan, an assistant professor of political science at UNLV, a Terp and Huskie, beer connoisseur, a squish, a lib, a pretty good cook, and captain of his softball team.
